Sea Turtle Conservation in Costa Rica: Stories from the Beach

From the moonlit shores of the Osa Peninsula to the sun-drenched sands of Cahuita, Costa Rica’s coastline plays host to one of the most ancient and awe-inspiring wildlife events on Earth: the nesting of sea turtles.

Working with organisations like COPROT and Planet Conservation, I’ve spent the last few months immersed in turtle conservation — walking remote beaches, watching hatchlings emerge, and helping protect nests that hold the future of these endangered species.

This blog series brings together the stories, lessons, and realities of volunteering on the frontlines of sea turtle protection in Costa Rica. Whether you're planning to volunteer, researching turtle conservation, or simply curious about what happens after dark on a turtle beach — these posts are for you.
